A reflection on two facets of genuine love.

Love is Hard, Love is Easy (Love is Good)

Love shakes you awake in the morning
Rocks you to sleep at night
Love restores you soul
It wears your fingers to the bone

Like sunshine on a spring day, love just happens
Like the cross, you have to take it up
While you blink you can vow
It’ll take the rest of your life to make it stick

Love is hard
Love is easy
Love is hard
Love is good

Love brings you down to your deepest valleys
Leads you to your highest mountain tops
Tastes sweet as wine in the beginning
Bitter as gall when you have to part

Love asks you for everything you have
Gives you everything you hold most dear
Love gave you your very life and self
And now demands that you lay it down

Love is hard
Love is easy
Love is hard
Love is good

Love is there in the golden summer
There in the cold grey winter rain
There at the altar
Bleary eyed at the end of a long, hard day
Sometimes it flows like a river
Sometimes you have to build it stone by stone

It was there as they gazed into each other’s eyes
There for the sad, slow demise
A slow song and a slow, close dance
Love is there in the romance
And when it feels like it’s all dried up
Love is there in the choices that you make

Love is hard
Love is easy
Love is hard
Love is good
