Don’t Be My Enemy

Don’t be my enemy
Be my brother
Be my friend
Don’t be my enemy
When you don’t have to be
Don’t be my enemy
Be my sister
Be my friend
Don’t be my enemy
When you don’t have to be
Can you crawl, can you bow
Where I laid my life down
Can you repent the wrongs you’ve done
Where I paid the price for them
Don’t be my enemy
Don’t be my enemy
Be my mother
Be my friend
Don’t be my enemy
When you don’t have to be
Can you bow, can you bend
Where I laid my life down for my friends
Can you fall on your knees
Where I put away our enemity
Don’t be my enemy
Were you hurt by what I did?
But wounds from a friend can be trusted
See, I have wounds of my own
I left you free
I made a way
I made a way back to me
I left you free
I made a way
I made a way back to me
Don’t be my enemy…
Be my brother, be my fiend
Be my sister, be my friend
Be my mother
Be my lover, be my spouse
But don’t be enemy
When you don’t have to be

very beautiful song paul! I thought particularly powerful were the words “Don’t be my enemy, when you don’t have to be.” It reminded me of the The Divine Mercy Image–Jesus coming toward with His hand of blessing, His blood and water pouring from His heart, His wounds as a testament to what He has done for us–in all of these things Jesus says to us: “Come to my mercy. There is nothing to fear here. Don’t be my enemy when you don’t have to be.
Good song paul! I have always enjoyed your songs.
Hi Paul,
I’ll be the first to comment - it ROCKS! I think the lyric, the message, the tune the invitation, the forgiveness, the whole thing is lovely, moving and touching. It is a WOW for me.

Very nice, Paul. I am constantly blessed by the gentle way you affirm the Word of God in song … thanks for this. He is indeed alive and sharper than any two-edged sword. Praise God.
